Classic Bruschetta
6 slices of dense white country/peasant bread, approximately 1/2 inch thick
1 clove garlic
3 tbs extra-virgin olive oil
sea salt, to taste
Lightly toast or grill the bread. While the bread is still warm, cut the unpeeled clove of garlic in half and rub the cut surface over one side of each piece of toast. Brush olive oil over the garlic-rubbed side and sprinkle with sea salt, if desired.
